Why Work With Us
We set you up for success from the get-go!
ACX/Audible have very specific requirements. We help you structure the book so it's set up for success!
We offer a competitive rate ($295 per finished hour)
We have edited 20+ audiobooks for ACX/Amazon. We have a processing chain set up exactly to meet the ACX standard and we know how distribution works, so for YOU, it would only be recording the book. Though some editors may offer a slightly cheaper rate but very few of them could offer the same level of customer experience and level of expertise.
We are there, every step of the way.
We not only edit the book, but also cover everything from equipment, setting up the home studio, doing a few tests to see how it sounds before recording, post-processing and distribution. As a package, we also offer stats collection, downloads and purchases. So you just sit back, relax and let us take care of the rest.
Need a narrator? We can help with that, too.
If you decide to hire an narrator to record the book, we will help you find a list of qualified narrators that suits your brand.
How long is a typical audiobooks?
The average pace is at 150 words per minute (wpm), but even for professional speakers/narrators, the 'waste factor' is about 50%. This means that you'll have 2 hours of raw recording per finished hour (PFH).
If a book is 90,000 words, then the final product should be around 600 minutes = 10 'finished hours'. The total material recorded, not cleaned, will be about 20 hours, using the rule of thumb.
Record at home or at a studio?
For people who live close to a studio, have the budget, and free time to commute back and forth, a professional studio can be a great option.
That said, MOST OF US don't have the luxury when it comes to the money or the time. Therefore it would be much better if you can record at home. It is easy to have a basic set up and much more convenient. Most narrators today work at home studios. A good mic + sound interface is usually cheaper than 20h+ studio time.
OUR SERVICE: We help you choose the right equipments for your home studio BEFORE you start.
First time recording a book? Here are some basic tips and tricks.
If you have never recorded an audiobook before, we recommend doing 2 to 4 hours a day maximum. For example, consider 2 hours in the morning + 2 hours in the afternoon.
The key for audiobook recording is consistency. In other words you want to make it sound like everything was recorded at the same time. Because our voices wear off over time, no matter how professional the narrator is, preserving our voice strategically is very important.
For this reason, it's better to establish a certain routine (e.g. always record at the same time, sitting in the same position and avoid moving the mic/setup).
Minimum equipment cost: a decent mic ($400-$500) + sound interface + laptop + a closet with lots of clothes if possible!
