Remote Review (2023). I started Feisworld in 2014, and since then, one of the most rewarding and satisfactory experiences has been to build a team of creative people to work and grow together, sharing the journey. We work holistically, in multiple countries across the globe.
However, building an international team took time, and it hasn’t been easy administrative work mainly because the world wasn’t prepared and streamlined for remote work. Remote is now here to change that, as the one-stop shop for hiring and building a truly international team.
Why should small businesses have an international team? (Top 5 reasons)
Having an international and diverse team completely changed our ways of working and creative process at Feisworld Media. There are just so many rich opportunities to take advantage of. Here are some of the reasons why we believe an international team is the way to go.
- Increased creativity and innovation: A team with diverse backgrounds and perspectives can bring new ideas and fresh perspectives to the table, which can help a small business stay competitive and innovative.
- Broader range of skills and expertise: An international team can bring a wider range of skills and expertise to a small business, which can be valuable for tackling complex projects and solving difficult problems.
- Improved audience understanding: A diverse team can help a small business better understand and connect with its customers and audience, particularly if the business operates in a global market. This can lead to better products and services that meet the needs of a diverse range of customers.
- Greater cultural awareness: A team with diverse backgrounds and experiences can help a small business become more culturally aware and sensitive. This can be especially important for businesses that operate in multiple countries or serve customers from different cultural backgrounds.
- Improved communication skills: Working with team members from different countries and cultures can help small business employees develop stronger communication skills and become more adaptable to different communication styles.
However, building that team is another story. We have spent thousands of hours on Fiverr and Upwork, meeting people, testing projects and gigs, and conforming to a team. In addition, we have tried hundreds of pipelines for payroll management, and they are all different depending on the countries involved and tax entities.
Remote is here to change that, offering an all-in-one platform to scale a global team. They offer several packages for startups, small businesses, and larger ones too.
Remote handles HR aspects as well as payroll features, simplifying the whole process from finding talent, to offering packages, and paying salaries, while being compliant with taxes and local regulations.

Remote Key Features
Let’s have a look at some of the main features that Remote provides, compared to its alternatives.
1. All-in-one platform
Remote aim to be a comprehensive suite of tools and services for managing remote teams, including payroll processing, tax compliance, time tracking, benefits administration, and more. Being an all-in-one platform can save small businesses time and money by consolidating multiple tools and services into one platform! It’s a great advantage for small teams that just want to get going, with simplified administrative work.
2. Global network of contractors and employees
A great aspect about Remote is that it has a large network of international contractors and employees that you can search right away!
This is a very valuable resource for small businesses looking to expand their workforce and global presence, without exhaustive searches on the internet. I don’t know how much time we have spent on Fiverr and Upwork in the past years, but trust me, it was considerable. This network can help businesses find talent quickly and easily, without the need for extensive recruitment efforts.
4. Transparent pricing
Remote offers pricing with no hidden fees or extra costs. You pay what they say, and you get what you pay for.
5. Customer support
A big win, IMHO: Remote provides excellent customer support, with a dedicated support team available to answer questions and help users navigate the platform.
3. Security and compliance
A not minor aspect is that Remote prioritizes security and compliance, ensuring that all data is kept confidential and meets international data protection standards. This can give small businesses peace of mind, knowing that their sensitive data is secure.
Remote HR Features
Remote HR features include onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration services, time off management, employee data management, performance management tools, and compliance and reporting capabilities.
Remote Payroll Features
Remote automates payroll processing and tax compliance, with time tracking tools to ensure accurate payments for employees’ working time. The platform offers tax filing services for W-2s and 1099s, generating forms and submitting them on behalf of businesses. In addition, compliance and reporting tools are available to help businesses comply with local employment laws and regulations.
It’s a real-time saver! We’ve been through that pain ourselves at Feisworld Media, doing all that work manually. Trust me, it is not nice, and we also spent money on someone who helped us fix it for us.
Remote’s payroll features simplify the administrative tasks of managing payroll for remote workers, freeing up time and resources for businesses to focus on their core operations.
Remote pricing plans are varied to fit the needs of different businesses. Here are their current pricing options:
- Employer of Record Services
- $699/month or
- $599/month when billed annually (Save 14%)
- Contractor Management Services
- $29/month per contractor
Remote also offers custom pricing for businesses with more specific needs or larger workforces. Additionally, there are no hidden fees or charges, and Remote provides transparent pricing with no setup or cancellation fees.
Employee Cost Calculator: The feature I love the most!
One part I love about Remote is that they have an online employee cost calculator that comes very handy when estimating your business expenses. Particularly when projecting how and when to grow your team.
I simulated one scenario to hire someone from Sweden (like my producer, Germán), and assigning a sample salary of $40k annually. It automatically tells me the extra costs I need to consider based on that setup.
At Feisworld Media, we went full-remote since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and we are never going back. The benefits of an international and diverse team are just outstanding and it nourishes us so much that we arranged everything else to just make it happen.
We work with an international team in a holistic way, but it wasn’t easy to get there, because the world wasn’t prepared to do full-time remote work, and cross borders.
Remote is something we have been waiting for a long time. IT offers a one-stop shop to help businesses manage their remote workforce, from payroll processing and tax compliance to HR management and benefits administration.
With its user-friendly interface, customizable features, and competitive pricing, Remote provides small businesses with the tools they need to streamline administrative tasks and focus on growing their business. The 24/7 customer support team is always available to assist with any questions or concerns, which is a big win for us.
Whether a business is just starting to build a remote team or is looking to scale an existing one, Remote offers a reliable and flexible solution that is hard to beat in 2023.
