Siteground to WXP Migration. Should I pull the trigger?

Why I’m Considering Migrating from SiteGround to WPX in 2024 (5 Reasons)

In the creator’s economy, is crucial to stay on top of the latest and greatest technologies, and also embrace change. Web hosting is no different. We’ve been using SiteGround at Feisworld since 2022. I appriacted their services, however, costs started to add up, and now with new options in the landscape we are evaluating whether we should start migrating from Siteground to WPX. The main reason: WPX is crafted for WordPress, which is what we run in the backend.

Here’s why I’m considering this move in 2024.

UPDATE: BTW. I’m also exploring moving to Rocket.net. Will compare WPX to Rocket.net in another blog post soon! Stay tuned (under development)

Migrating from Siteground to WPX: Is It Worth It?

1. Pricing

The cost of web hosting is always a crucial factor. In 2024, WPX continues to offer competitive pricing, especially considering the features and performance they promise. Their plans, while slightly higher in price than SiteGround, seem to offer better value for money, particularly for websites at a certain scale or for those requiring more robust hosting solutions.

SiteGround:

  • Plans: Three tiers – StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek.
  • StartUp: $6.99/month for one website, 10GB storage, unmetered traffic.
  • GrowBig: $10.69/month for unlimited websites, 20GB storage, unmetered traffic, and advanced features like automatic site backups and staging environment.
  • GoGeek: $14.99/month for unlimited websites, 40GB storage, unmetered traffic, and additional features like priority support and CDN.
  • Renewal Rates: Renewals significantly jump, reaching $17.99, $29.99, and $44.99 for the respective plans.

WPX:

  • Plans: Three tiers – Business, Professional, and Enterprise.

  • Professional: $24.99/month for 15 websites, 20GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, and additional features like staging environment and malware scanning.
  • Enterprise: $49.99/month for 30 websites, 40GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, and premium features like dedicated servers and priority support.
  • Renewal Rates: Renewals remain at the same price as initial subscription.

2. Performance Enhancements

One of the primary reasons for my consideration is the promise of enhanced performance with WPX. Speed and reliability are paramount, and it shows in Google rankings (e.g. Core Web Vitals, and others., WPX has been consistently lauded for its exceptional loading speeds and uptime. This can be a game-changer, especially for websites with high traffic or those relying heavily on e-commerce, where every second of loading time counts.

3. Customer Support Experience

While SiteGround has provided satisfactory customer service, WPX appears to take it a step further. Known for their quick response times and expert support team, WPX offers a more personalized and efficient support experience. They also offer free website migrations (hands-off). This aspect is critical for me, as timely and effective support can make a huge difference in managing website crises or technical issues.

4. Advanced Security Features

Security is non-negotiable in the digital space. WPX claims to have superior security measures in place, including custom-built DDoS protection, daily malware scans, and free unlimited SSL certificates. This level of security assurance is something that has made me lean towards WPX, considering the increasing cyber threats in recent years.

5. Eco-Friendly Hosting

An interesting and increasingly important aspect of WPX’s service is their commitment to environmental sustainability. Their initiative to plant trees for every new hosting account is a commendable effort towards eco-friendliness, aligning with my personal values of environmental responsibility!

Conclusion: Should we change?

While SiteGround has been a reliable host for me over the years, the potential improvements in performance, customer support, security, and user experience with WPX are compelling. The decision to migrate is not taken lightly, but as the digital landscape changes, so do the needs of our business and Feisworld’s content. WPX, in 2024, seems to be a frontrunner in meeting these evolving demands.
