YouTube Music Podcasts: Officially Launched In The US! (2023)

Great news! In late April 2023, YouTube announced that YouTube Music officially launched its podcasts service in the US – gradually (a.k.a. YouTube Music Podcasts or Podcasts on YouTube Music). Soon it will make integration available to international users as well. In this article, we will break down what the change looks like, and how it impacts you as a podcaster and a podcast creator on YouTube.

YouTube Music Podcasts – Official Announcement

We’re happy to share that podcasts on YouTube are now available in YouTube Music! We’re rolling this out to all our listeners in the United States gradually, so hold tight if you don’t see it yet! This update allows those watching podcasts on the main app to continue listening to them on YouTube Music. More about the new podcasts listening experience on YouTube Music below!

All listeners can enjoy podcasts on-demand, offline, in the background, while casting and seamlessly switch between audio-video versions on YouTube Music. This podcast listening experience is different from our music listening experience where you need a Premium or Music Premium subscription to enjoy some of these features.*

This new podcast listening experience complements the podcast video experience on YouTube, and we’re so excited for you to try it! For those of you outside the United States, rest assured that we plan to bring podcasts in YouTube Music to other regions in the future! Information for Podcast Creators on YouTube

Your uploaded podcasts are now available for on-demand, offline & background listening on YouTube Music in the United States.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Make sure your podcast appears in the Podcasts tab in YouTube Studio to have your podcasts show up on YouTube Music. You can read a step-by-step walkthrough of how to create a podcast or set an existing playlist as a podcast on our Help Center: https://yt.be/help/D7y4k

• If your podcast is audio-only, consider uploading a video with a static image or use audiograms or other dynamic video formats. We’ll also offer you the option to directly upload your audio podcasts via RSS feeds to both YouTube & YouTube Music down the line. Stay tuned!

• By default, podcast videos will be available for audio-only playback on YouTube Music. If you want to turn off audio-only playback, you’ll have to disable podcast features.
