As podcasting gains even more popularity among creators and businesses, the rise of AI tools for podcasting has grown significantly. But what tools are available? How good are they really? We had to put them to the test.

As real podcasters since 2014, we are curious how these AI tools are actually going to transform the way we ideate, create, edit, publish, and market our podcasts – or are they just there for the hype of AI?

Unlike most listicles about AI tools for podcasting and creative businesses, this is one of a series of mega posts for AI that is grounded in everyday practice. We have included many of our more detailed review posts inline with the tools as well.

Our Thinking Behind “Best AI Tools for Podcasting”

We believe it’s important to break down the workflow of podcasting and see how AI tools can fit into our process to be most helpful. AI tools should not exist completely ourside of our process. Ideally, they should be integrated, tested and reiterated as part of how we create.

Please note: if this is the first time to explore AI tools for podcasting, you should know that some tools may have many key features that cover more than one category of our workflow, such as creating show notes, social posts, and transcripts. And some other tools may only do one thing but it does it really well such as automating the editing process. As much as we want a perfect, stellar all-in-one solution, reality may push us to try multiple tools and see what works best for us.

Canva is one of the most popular online design tools worldwide. We have been using Canva on a daily basis here at Feisworld HQ. Riverside (Recording, Editing, Repurposing for Social Media)

One of Podcastle’s competitives is Riverside, who has been leading podcast recording among more established creators. In the summer of 2023, Riverside released a new AI feature called Magic Clips to allow podcasters immediately repurpose their long-form content into sharable clips. Another powerful feature inside Riverside is the ability to edit video easily, but it does require you to record the video content first using Riverside.

Zencastr (Recording and AI Advertising)

Similar to Podcastle and Riverside, Zencastr can also record quality audio and video up to 4K to give you the picture-perfect quality. Zencastr was one of the first companies that could do this and do it well. However, most of you might not know about Zencastr’s AI that matches you to advertisers and opportunities that align with your story. Cleanvoice (Editing Automation)

Cleanvoice is an artificial intelligence which removes filler sounds, stuttering and mouth sounds from your podcast or audio recording. It has multilanguage support for German, French and new languages are adding regularly. Their algorithm can also work with accents from other countries, such as Australian or Irish English. Cleanvoice AI goes beyond the basic features you may already be familiar with but they also offer:

Adoble Podcast allows you to manage AI-powered audio recording and editing, all on the web. As the writing of this article, Adoble Podcast is in beta and free for all. Here are some key features:

  • Powered by Adobe Premiere Pro’s speech-to-text technology, Adobe Podcast lets you easily edit audio using a transcript.
  • Recording with others is as easy as sharing a link. Everyone’s audio is recorded in high quality locally, then Adobe Podcast syncs it back together in the cloud automatically.
  • Enhance Speech increases clarity by removing background noise and sharpening your voice’s frequencies. It makes it sound as if everything was recorded in a professional studio.

While Podcastle, Riverside, Zencastr also offer quality recordings, Adoble Podcast seems to really focus on audio content for the time-being. If you are an audio-only podcaster, Adoble Podcast is definitely worth checking out, for sure.

Wondershare Filmora (AI Video Editing for Podcasts)

Wondershare’s Filmora is a friendly video editor for podcasters and creators without any editing experience. Filmora is easy to pickup and the app comes with many helpful tutorials. Since the boom of AI, Filmora also added a suite of AI features such as:

CapCut (AI Video Editing – and it’s free)

CapCut, a free online video editor, has AI-powered editing tools. CapCut’s AI functions include removing video backgrounds, automatic subtitles, speech to text, and more. CapCut also has a plugin for ChatGPT users that uses generative AI to create content for social channels like TikTok. CapCut is available for both Android and iOS smartphones and creators seem to like using it a lot both on desktop and mobile phones.

Descript (Recording, Transcription, Editing, Collaboration and Share)

Descript is an AI-powered editor that automatically transcribes your audio and video recordings so that you can edit them just like text. It also uses AI to remove background noise and improve recording quality with a click (via Studio Sound), detect filler words like “um” and “uh,” and can insert AI voices — even correct misspoken words with a synthesized version of your own voice, if you want — via its Overdub feature. The free version enables 1 hour of transcription and 10 minutes of Studio Sound per month.

Otter AI (Transcription and AI Summaries)

Otter.ai uses AI to write automatic meeting notes with real-time transcription, recorded audio, automated slide capture, and automated meeting summaries. While it’s very popular for online meeting such as those held on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Otter has also become very popular among creators, and particularly around podcasters because of its transcription features.

Otter’s new and less-known AI feature is called Otter Chat, which can generate copy or recall information specific to the meetings it attends with you. Imagine as a podcaster, you have spent hours interviewing guests on planned and unplanned questions, Otter Chat can do wonders help you recall and summarize the information from these recordings.

Swell

Swell AI is an AI-powered tool that helps podcasters and YouTubers convert their audio and video content into written articles. It does this by using a combination of natural language processing and machine learning to transcribe the audio, identify key talking points, and generate text that is both informative and engaging.
